by John Calvin
First comes John Calvin’s A Little Book on the Christian Life, a brief, rich classic that focuses on Christianity as a call to self-denial. Every new member at Grace receives a copy of this book. That’s how essential we think it is. Read (or re-read) it before Thursday, October 22 and then join us for the discussion.

What is the goal of Book Groups at Grace?
Because we are a church that longs for more depth, we’re always exploring ways to go deeper in faith. Reading great books together helps us delve into our rich inheritance of Christian thought.
Why have you chosen these particular books?
Our hope is to introduce some of the essential reads—particularly the ones we all want to get to some day, yet never seem to have time. Tackling them as a group provides motivation. Whether fiction or nonfiction, we believe these selections are worth your time, and worth having on your shelf.
What if I don’t finish the book before the discussion?
That’s not a problem. If you haven’t made it to the end, you’re welcome to join us. And if you haven’t even started, the conversation might be just what you need to set the table.
Where can I find the books?
You’ll find links on this page to buy the books online, and we try to keep copies in stock at Grace, too. Check the book kiosk in the lobby at church.
What books have you discussed in the past?
So far, we have covered Til We Have Faces, a novel by C. S. Lewis, and The Christ of the Covenants, a classic theological text by O. Palmer Robertson.
